Staff Pastoral Wellbeing Practitioners care about the pastoral wellbeing of individuals, teams, and the context in which we work. We want to help develop a working environment in which staff can thrive both as individuals and in their professional roles.
The Staff Pastoral Wellbeing Practitioners are available to all Trust staff. If you are looking for a compassionate, confidential space to talk, they offer one-to-one pastoral support appointments in person, by phone or via MS Teams.
Whether this is to reflect on experiences at work or home, explore life decisions, or simply to let off some steam, you are welcomed to contact them directly. The team are trained to hold space for people experiencing distress, but you don’t need to wait for a crisis to access this support. If needed, they can also assist you in finding and accessing clinical mental health support.
The team are also able to refer you directly to the Staff Wellbeing Support Hub for immediate triaging by the Psychological Wellbeing Manager.
The team also offer sessions for individuals and groups, including reflective practice, mindfulness, pastoral (or people-centred) management skills, and safe spaces to explore events that have impacted a team. They also offer facilitated conversations when individual members of staff are seeking to address interpersonal conflict.
‘I was very grateful. It felt like a 4th emergency service and a burn-out disaster was most definitely averted through their support’.
‘They are supporting both myself and members of my team through a very difficult time. From my experience they lend perspective’.
‘I really appreciate that I can just turn up and talk, no pressure. Even better, they come to us too!’
‘I approached the Staff Pastoral Wellbeing team as I struggled with stress at work/burnout. The first amazing thing is the availability of the staff, their super-fast responsiveness, and how accommodating they are.”
“We appreciate the time taken to progress practical solutions to improve the hospital environment…and the working lives of all, irrespective of whether they perceive the need or not.”
